Swim and dive champs

The 2009 SSCL Championships, hosted at Swim & Racquet, was a great way to complete a fun filled summer swim season!! Congratulations to all of the Sea Dog divers and swimmers for winning another SSCL Championship! Swim & Racquet won the Diving division and Junior swimming division, and we were runner-up in the Senior swimming division resulting in a League Championship!!

The hard work and dedication of each diver swimmer helped bring home a championship, but also led to a lot of great swims by all! (A lot of personal best times too!) A special congratulations to Ian Hamilton, Nicole Wagner, and JJ Spangler for setting new league records in the 100 IM!! We are very proud of their efforts!! We would also like to recognize Brianna and Kaylee Barrett for their perfect attendance record at practices this season!! Great job girls!!!

Also, a special thanks to the assistant coaching staff for all of their hard work this summer!!

Dive

Congratulations to all the divers for a great season and winning Championships. The team scores were:

• Swim and Racquet 460
• Olentangy 176
• Hilliard 116
• Bexley 97

The divers worked hard all summer and many new dives were learned regardless of the cold mornings and crowded practices. Thanks to Alexa Bean, Kelly Copeland, and Molly Koniewich for all of their help at practice.  Also, thanks to all the parents who helped make our season a success and especially Sara Greenlee for coordinating all our home meets and Championships. We hope to see everyone back next year!

Social update

It is hard to believe summer is coming to an end soon.  The good news is there are still many events planned for the month of August.

Wednesday August 12 will be a very special evening.  The club is hosting its' first Family Carnival Night.  This event will include everything from games, carnival food, inflatables and even a dunking tank!  Please bring your family to this very special event.  We would love to make this event an annual affair for our families.

The End of the Summer Bash is scheduled for August 22.  You will not want to miss this bash.  The band MadFunk 8 will be playing. This band is high energy, performing feel good tunes spanning generations…from Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and the Beatles…to Jet, Johnny Lang, and Joss Stone! Madfunk8 was formerly affiliated with Easton’s Shadowbox Cabaret and its sister theater, 2Co’s. This “house band” consistently receives rave reviews playing songs crossing all generations from every genre.  Exhilarating performers whose high energy will keep you dancing and the party humming!

Finally...August 28, Ladies Day at the Pool.  Hang out with all your friends at the pool and celebrate the beginning of a new school year.  Vendors, lunch, mini massages and lots of fun and relaxation will be the highlight of this event.  Every year we receive such great feedback on this event.  Join us for all the fun, we promise you will enjoy it!  Thank you to Lynne Deshler for helping us plan this event. We are currently looking for vendors that would be interested in participating at the popular event Ladies Day at the Pool on Friday August 28.  If you know someone who might be interested please have them contact us as soon as possible at chawthorne@columbus.rr.com or lhamlin@core.com.  Vendors that are members are free and non-member vendors are $25.

Weathering permitting, the Floating Flicks has been rescheduled to September 6.  High School Musical 3 will be shown.  Many of the kids just enjoy hanging out at the pool for a late evening even if they do not watch the movie.

As always, we would like to thank all of our wonderful members for supporting the social events.  Don't let summer pass  without attending some of your clubs' parties.
